The Problem

As one of Australia’s leading intermodal infrastructure owners and operators, our client required the services of our firm to lead a CEO search process. As a private owner of both air, rail, and shipping operating assets, it was imperative that our client appoint an executive who had the capability, passion, and long-term focus to lead this intermodal hub through a growth journey over the coming decade.

The Solution

In order for our firm to deliver appropriately, we needed to genuinely understand the company and its assets. We took time prior to engaging with our client visiting the site, speaking with customers as well as meeting some of the internal members. Having been briefed by the Chairman, we also took time to speak to all the Board Members available to understand their personal wants as well.

Our research team identified the core long list of global leaders who had led intermodal assets and facilities through a growth journey. It was critical that our selected shortlisted executives understood both greenfield and brownfield sites, therefore an ability to act with creativity and innovation was vital for this business. We met on three occasions throughout the search with the Board Members to ensure they were comfortable with our list of executives, and following each meeting, the search would be fine-tuned to meet all expectations.

The Outcome

After numerous meetings with the Board, the selected executive accepted the role and commenced with the organisation three months later. This search process was run over exactly nine weeks from initially signed engagement, shortlisting, management of interviews, and then a formal commercial offer.
