The Problem

‍Our client is one of Australia’s largest private property development organisations with landholding in each major city across the country. The Executive Chairman is nearing retirement and seeking a strong succession plan to support the family and the organisations long term future. We were asked to partner closely with the family and lead a nationwide search for what was initially their Chief Investment Officer, come Chief Executive Officer in charge within the coming few years.

The Solution

After meeting the Founder, their Advisory Board, and the key operational Executives in the business, we were fortunate to lead a national search on a confidential basis. This search required three pillars to be identified and met:

1. Private enterprise experience in a growth-related property organisation
2. Hands on experience leading capital raising initiatives with both family offices and institutional banks
3. Hands on property development experience across both land and industrial grade assets

We worked closely with our in-house research team to identify these core capabilities across Australia. Our team engaged with over twenty people who met these criteria, and post-confidential NDAs signed, we formally engaged face-to-face with each executive and built deep relationships with each to understand their motivation, aligned experience, and long-term drivers against the brief.

The Outcome

‍Within a six-week period of leading the search exclusively for our client, we presented four executives who then undertook a thorough assessment and fact-finding interview process. After an intense period of visiting property landholding sites, meeting the family and finalising the preferred two executives for this appointment, we finalised the search with detailed references to future proof our work and appointed the Chief Investment Officer who commenced a month later.
